Been Away For A While

I've been "away" for a while, but I've been coming back periodically to check my links here because I really enjoy reading everyone's blogs. It inspires me.

A lot of changes have happened since I last posted... I've moved, but I'm still settling in. At my last job, there was so much drama, it was nice to just come home and melt, to lie on the couch watching tv, or to play on the computer and forget about everything else. I became a bit antisocial. In the past month, I've been coming around again. I've met some nice people, and I've felt encouraged to get out more, so I have. :) Now I have a new job, and although it's a little frustrating to be going through the training process and not feeling like it belongs to me yet (although I'm doing really well, and my partner says I'm catching on quick--I know I do catch on quickly, but it's nice for other people to notice!), when I come home at night, I don't lose sleep. That's a good feeling, as Mr. Rogers would say. ;)

So, new home, new job. What else is new... hmmm, new travels? :) I went to San Diego, California in February to visit my brother. Stayed for about 5 days. That was nice. We saw some of Balboa Park, the Wild Animal Park, the Scripps Aquarium, Torrey Pines Beach, and Old Towne while we were there. We went out to this so-cool restaurant called Rama. ( http://www.ramarestaurant.com/home.htm ) It was good to see my brother again since we have so little time together. Literally, I have not spent that much time with my brother since he left for college, and that was a LONG time ago! Even when he finished college and was deciding on which job offer to accept, or when he took the haitus before the cross-country bike trip, we didn't really spend quality time together.

I also painted this (oil on canvas pad):
Lost Loves

And this (watercolor on canvas pad):
The Night Bird

Well, I have to go fix my hair so I can be ready to make a good impression in an hour. ;) More later!

Another White Rabbit

I was going to wait to post this until I'd tweaked it a bit. I'm just not sure what to do with certain spots. And I'm one of those people who, once I get to a certain level, quit trying. I hate that, but it's true. I lose momentum. It's acrylic on acrylic pad.

A Good Day

I just saved a ton of money on my car insurance. :)

And, I know everyone has seen this commercial, but it makes me smile every time I see it. I love the white scene, but it has some great shots, and awesome music by The Flaming Lips.

Mitten

This is just too cute. (You'll have to stop the video/music at the bottom of the window first!)

Done

The next few may or may not be exactly done, but I know that I am at that stage where I'm ready to move on to something else and just call this book finished. The first one I call "An Act of Passion".
The next one I call "Captured". That's my mom with her mother's arms around her. I really like my use of color in this one.

The next one is "Climb to the top", for lack of a better name. I think this is one of those with GREAT color and nice possibilities, but I just got lost somewhere along the way.
Then I had this Virgin ad with a GREAT graphic and I didn't want to cover it up too much, so I stopped.
Then I have another one... I got to this point... liked some of the images, didn't like some of the others... argh.
The "Dream Big".... still not sure how I feel. It's missing something. Sorry about the crazy formatting... I can't seem to figure out this "easy" editor on Blogger when I have more than one image in a blog entry. Not very user friendly. : I should go back to just uploading them from Flickr and saving myself a step...
